Job summary

America's Heartland Packing is hiring a 1st legger for the harvest floor. You will remove hide from the lower round, hock, and leg using a knife, starting at the pattern mark, and skin around the hock and lower leg. Work requires attention to pattern, safety, and proper PPE usage.

The role is in a humid, hot, and sometimes slippery environment near moving equipment. Candidates must be 18+, able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship, and stand for long periods.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Must be able to work in a humid, hot, wet, slippery, or moving surface around moving equipment with PPE.
• Able to stand for lengthy periods of time.

Responsibilities

• Use knife to cut pattern from midline of hind hock to rump on first leg.
• With clean hand, hold hide tight while performing job.
• Skin inside of hind leg by inserting knife between hide and meat. Skin from inside out.
• If knife cuts through hide or pattern, sanitize the knife before continuing.
• Steel knife and place knife into sterilizer after each carcass.
