Job summary

Johns Manville in Fernley, NV is hiring a Production Operator for 2nd shift (2pm–10:30pm) and a night shift (10pm–6:30am) on a temp-to-hire basis. No prior experience is required, with growth through skill progression and a focus on safety, quality and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include monitoring lines, manual material handling, equipment start-ups and basic maintenance tasks. Strong reliability and safety mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read a tape measure and understand work instructions and product specs.
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages).
• Beginner to intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office).
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Previous experience in an industrial environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor production lines and ensure smooth operation during your shift.
• Communicate effectively via radio with team members.
• Perform hands-on tasks such as cutting material, sampling products, moving materials, and operating a forklift.
• Support housekeeping efforts including emptying trash carts and general clean-up.
• Assist with equipment start-ups and complete preventative maintenance tasks.
• Begin learning additional key roles as part of your skills progression (Levels 24).
• Understand and follow finished product specifications.
• Take on additional tasks as assigned by your supervisor.
