  • Hourly Range: $21.14 - $31.42 (Determined by function, education, experience, and qualifications of the applicant. A 15% salary uplift is provided on top of base salary for positions that are worked in New York City or San Francisco, which is subject to change depending on market conditions.)

Program Overview

the company's U.S. Summer Internship Program provides students with an opportunity to gain meaningful, hands‑on experience while working alongside industry professionals on projects and initiatives that impact communities around the world. The program is a structured 10‑week summer experience, typically held from mid‑June through mid‑August, designed to help students translate classroom learning into practical application through challenging assignments, professional development activities, and exposure to the company's global business.


Interns are treated as valuable members of the team and are assigned work that contributes directly to business objectives. Throughout the internship, participants are encouraged to build technical and professional skills, expand their industry knowledge, and develop relationships with leaders and peers across the organization.


The internship experience combines real project work, professional development programming, networking opportunities, executive speaker sessions, mentorship, and end‑of‑program presentations to help students gain a deeper understanding of their chosen career path while exploring future opportunities with the company.


Work Location & Assignments

Opportunities are available across the company's Global Business Units (GBU) and functional organizations. Final assignment location, business unit placement, and specific responsibilities will be determined based on business needs, candidate qualifications, and organizational priorities.


Assignments may be located in a project field environment, regional office, or corporate office setting depending on business needs. Successful candidates should be flexible and willing to work in a variety of locations and environments in support of the company's projects and business operations. This may include opportunities at construction sites, project execution offices, or functional and corporate service organizations.


Job Summary

Government and International affairs interns will provide support to corporate, business and project teams in a variety of areas including research, communications, Congressional relations, think‑tank and association interaction, executive communications, and issues management. Additionally, assistance with data and document management or other non‑technical related areas will be provided.


The total number of hires and start dates are subject to workload and business conditions. Location will be in Washington, DC.


Major Responsibilities


  • Conduct research into political and economic conditions in countries such as the Middle East, China, and Africa. Generate briefing materials for supervisor and other Country managers as needed.

  • Assist Country Managers when visiting the DC office by scheduling meetings, conducting meeting preparation, attending meetings, take notes during meetings.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of foreign affairs (China, Africa, Middle East, etc.) or studies in school for those countries and locations.

  • Demonstrated government work/research experience.

  • May write briefings for the company executive leadership on international development.


Education and Experience Requirements


  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university obtaining a degree in Foreign Affairs, Economics, Regional Studies, International Business, or a related field.

  • Possess the eligibility to work and remain in the US without visa sponsorship, now or in the future.

  • Must be able to pass pre‑employment drug screen and background check.

  • Good communication skills, written and verbal.

  • Ability to function effectively to gather information on the phone.

  • Strong organizational and analytics skills.

  • Self‑starter, ability to conduct research and make recommendations, write reports.

  • Ability to commute to Washington DC to attend various meetings/seminars.

  • International travel experience a plus, but not required.

  • Computer skills in Word, Excel, Access, and LexisNexis is preferred.

  • Languages: English required.
