Job summary

The City of Garland is seeking a lead water systems operator responsible for maintaining the integrity of the Water Distribution System and providing 24/7 call center and dispatch operations for water utility trouble calls.

Responsibilities include supervising junior staff, supporting evening and night operations, ensuring optimal water pressure, monitoring system levels, and providing after‑hour dispatch support for the municipality.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Class C Water Distribution Operator License.
Class II Wastewater Collection License.
5 years experience in water systems operations.

Responsibilities

Provide supervisory oversight of junior operators.
Support evening and late night operation decisions.
Offer productivity improvement suggestions.
Maintain departmental optimum water pressure throughout the City.
Monitor water inflow, outflow, tank/tower levels, and pressure.
Monitor Wastewater Lift Station operations for 24/7 operation.
Provide 24/7 Water Utility operations and dispatch support.
Provide after hour non-stand-by Animal Control dispatching and call management support.
Provide 24/7 intra-City after hour non-emergency support.
