City of Garland seeks an Operator in Training to learn operating the City’s water pump stations and sewer lift stations via automated controls. The role includes 24/7 call center and dispatch duties for water utility trouble calls and after-hours municipal 311 support.

Entry-level Operator I requires 1 year in water utilities with license progression to Class C within 18 months. Strong communication and multi-tasking skills are essential for this role in a fast-paced municipal environment.

Qualifications

• 1 year of related experience in water utilities, dispatch center, or equivalent class D water distribution license required
• Must be able to obtain Class C Water Distribution license from TCEQ within 18 months from hire
• Valid Texas driver license is required

Responsabilités

• Maintain departmental water pressure to all areas via SCADA
• Monitor water inflow/outflow and tank levels via SCADA
• Monitor Lift Stations operations data for 24/7 operation via SCADA
• Provide 24/7 Water Utility operations and dispatch support activities
• Provide after-hour non-stand-by Animal Control dispatching and call management
• Provide after-hour intra-City after hour non-emergency support activities
