Job summary

St. Vincent de Paul in Oklahoma seeks a Program Assistant to provide essential 24-hour awake coverage and oversee day-to-day shelter operations. The role supports guests’ welfare, safety, and dignity, coordinating with case managers and staff to help guests progress toward stability.

You will perform duties ranging from housekeeping scheduling to crisis interventions, with emphasis on respectful interaction and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Ability to relate with others respectfully and work as a team.
• Respect for confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Sensitivity to needs of persons who are homeless and vulnerable.

Responsibilities

• Assures daily/weekly/monthly housekeeping tasks are completed timely.
• Assigns volunteer tasks to shelter guests and supports task completion.
• Maintains safety by perimeter checks and communicating expectations.
• Responds to emergencies per agency protocols.
• Supervises children with parents and encourages activities.
• Monitors supplies and informs supervisors when reordering is needed.
• Supports resident activities and events.
• Assists clients with daily living, meals, resource navigation, and transport.
• Maintains sign-in records, attendance, and discrepancies.
• Mediates conflicts to maintain a peaceful environment.
