Public Safety Dispatch Network is seeking a call-taker in Craigsville, WV to handle incoming emergency and nonemergency lines and verify incident details. The role requires following structured procedures and using dispatch software to relay information accurately.

Employees may work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays, with overtime as needed, in a 24-hour operations environment. Onboarding includes training and certifications as required by the agency.

Qualifications

• Strong listening, accurate typing, clear verbal communication, and ability to follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming emergency calls and assigned nonemergency lines.
• Confirm incident location and caller's callback information.
• Identify nature and urgency using approved questions.
• Enter details into call-processing or dispatch software.
• Forward incident information to the appropriate dispatch function.
• Assist distressed callers with essential questions and instructions.
• Use language-access and accessibility resources when needed.
• Provide authorized pre-arrival instructions within training.
