Job summary

Gryphon Place in Michigan seeks a Crisis Specialist to provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and resource connection through MiCAL (988 Lifeline) via phone, chat, and text in a 24/7 contact center. You will assess risk, de-escalate, and coordinate referrals while adhering to clinical protocols.

Flexible shifts include evenings, weekends, and overnights. This role supports residents of Michigan and offers pathways to certification and growth within a mission-driven organization.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to complete required crisis intervention training (provided).
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and/or overnights in a 24/7 environment.
• Certified Crisis Specialist (or ability to certify within 1 year).
• Resident of the State of Michigan.

Responsibilities

• Respond to incoming contacts (phone, chat, text) in a 24/7 crisis center.
• Conduct suicide risk assessments and safety planning.
• Provide emotional support and de-escalation using trauma-informed techniques.
• Identify and respond to high-risk situations and follow escalation procedures.
• Document interactions and coordinate referrals to local services.
