Job summary

Gryphon Place is seeking a Crisis Specialist to provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and resource connections to individuals via MiCAL, 988 Lifeline, and other channels. You will assess risk, de-escalate crises, and coordinate care in a 24/7 contact center environment.

The role requires flexibility for evenings, weekends, and overnights, with on-site or remote work eligibility. Strong communication, empathy, and trauma-informed skills are essential for immediate, compassionate support.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; crisis intervention training provided.
• Ability to complete crisis intervention training within required timeframe.
• Must reside in Michigan and be available for flexible shifts in a 24/7 environment.
• Certified Crisis Specialist or able to become certified within 1 year.
• Preferred: degree in Human Services, Psychology, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Respond to incoming contacts (calls, chats, texts) from individuals in crisis or seeking support.
• Conduct suicide risk assessments and safety planning per clinical protocols.
• Provide emotional support, de-escalation, and stabilization using trauma-informed techniques.
• Identify and respond to high-risk situations, including imminent risk, following escalation procedures.
