Job summary

Ravenwood Health in Ohio is seeking a full-time Crisis Hotline Specialist to provide immediate telephonic crisis intervention, risk assessment, and emotional support for individuals in mental health or substance use crises. The 988 line operates 24/7, and you will connect callers to local resources and coordinate with mobile crisis teams.

Preferred candidates have 2–3 years of crisis experience, strong communication and documentation skills, and comfort discussing suicide.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or High School Diploma/GED with 2-3 years relevant crisis or behavioral health experience.
• Strong verbal communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to remain calm, focused, and compassionate under pressure.
• Comfort discussing suicide and safety directly.
• Basic computer proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming 988 crisis calls professionally and empathetically.
• Complete suicide screenings and collaborative safety planning.
• Utilize evidence-informed de-escalation strategies.
• Provide warm transfers and appropriate referrals.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Document calls in accordance with agency and OhioMHAS standards.
• Connect callers to local and statewide behavioral health resources.
• Coordinate with Mobile Crisis, hospitals, and emergency services when needed.
• Conducts suicide risk screenings and safety planning.
