Job summary

National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR) in Golden, Colorado, seeks a Central Monitoring Station (CMS) Operator on the Emergency Management team. The role monitors fire, life safety, and security systems while coordinating 24/7 emergency response across multiple campuses and facilities.

The position includes a six-month probationary period, on-the-job training, and collaboration with internal and external responders to ensure safety and timely communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 4+ years of relevant experience, or an associate’s degree with 2+ years of experience.
• Full knowledge of specialized focused business support functions.
• Understanding of business support activities and practical applications.
• Proficiency in applicable software packages and office equipment.
• Demonstrated project administration skills.
• Knowledge of principles, procedures and practices in supported fields.

Responsibilities

• Receive emergency calls and alarms, dispatch, and determine appropriate response and resources.
• Maintain dispatch logs and produce detailed, factual reports.
• Interact with staff, management, visitors, vendors, and first responders.
• Operate and monitor site security systems (access control, CCTV, alarms).
• Provide CMS training for LP personnel.
• Support after-action reviews and identify best practices.
