Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a Section Supervisor for Building Operations to lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for continuous operation, monitoring, and maintenance of critical building and utility systems at the Laurel campus. You will ensure safe, reliable, and efficient facilities 24/7.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facility Management, Construction Management, or related technical field with 5+ years of facility operations experience.
• Experience leading, supervising, or directing skilled trades and operation staff.
• Experience supporting facility operations in institutional/industrial environments.
• Working knowledge of central utility and building mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and HVAC controls.
• Experience using CMMS and conducting preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and administrative leadership for a multidisciplinary workforce.
• Oversee 24/7/365 building and utility operations, including shifts and emergency response.
• Manage central utility plant equipment, BAS, HVAC, and related systems.
• Develop and implement operating procedures and standards to improve safety, reliability, and resiliency.
• Mentor and develop staff, conduct performance feedback, and succession planning.
• Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, project managers, and customers to plan work and minimize operational impacts.
