Job summary

WoodmenLife invites an Investment Intern for Summer 2027 to support the Investment division across routine and project work. You will assist mortgage loan servicing data, develop credit profiles, and gain exposure to institutional asset management within a not-for-profit insurer.

The 10-week program offers mentorship and real-world experience in a collaborative, community-focused setting. Ideal candidates are rising undergraduates in Finance/Business/Econ, with a 3.0+ GPA, and able to commit to

• Rising Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in college with relevant major.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher required.
• Ability to work 38.75 hours per week.
• Strong attention to detail and data-entry accuracy.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; Bloomberg Terminal knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support Mortgage Loan Annual Servicing Project by reviewing property performance updates for >500 loans.
• Enter reviewed property data into mortgage servicing software accurately.
• Assist Securities team with developing and maintaining credit profiles for debt issuers.
• Organize financial and issuer information used by investment professionals.

Job Title: Investment Intern – Summer 2027

WoodmenLife is looking for an Investment Intern to join our team! Ready to make an impact this summer? In this role, you support the Investment division by contributing to routine and project-based work across its teams. The intern will assist with mortgage loan servicing data and credit profile development while gaining practical exposure to institutional asset management within an insurance company. This role provides meaningful support and will conduct strategic analysis through exposure to the planning, execution and evaluation stages of various work projects and initiatives to help the Investment division achieve daily objectives

We are looking for someone to:

• Gain broad exposure to the WoodmenLife organization by meeting weekly with the Internship Cohort, collectively with Executive Leadership, and one‑on‑one with leaders at the division level.
• Summarize and present capstone presentation of the internship experience including project accomplishments, skill development, and key learnings.
• Support the Mortgage Loan Annual Servicing Project by reviewing property performance updates submitted for more than 500 mortgage loans.
• Enter reviewed property performance information into the mortgage servicing software accurately and completely.
• Assist the Securities team with developing and maintaining credit profiles for debt issuers as part of an ongoing, year‑round project.
• Organize financial, issuer and supporting information used by investment professionals in servicing and credit review activities.
• Complete assigned routine and project‑based work within established timelines and communicate questions or issues to the intern leader or appropriate team member.
• Protect confidential business and financial information and follows applicable procedures and internal controls.
• Use available technology, including approved AI tools in an ethical and responsible manner.
• Meet attendance and punctuality expectations in accordance with supervisor and WoodmenLife policy requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Project Description

• Securities Team - Learn the process of tracking and ongoing maintenance of security related investment holdings.
• Mortgage Loan and Real Estate – Review Mortgage Loan operating reports. Collaborate with Mortgage Analysts and Portfolio Managers to ensure accurate and timely data entry, file tracking, and essential updates of holdings.

We Need Someone Who Is:

• Rising Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in college with area of study in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Real Estate or a related degree program
• Must have a 3.0 or higher GPA
• Ability to work 38.75 hours per week
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively while working collaboratively
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate data entry and documentation
• Ability to review, organize and interpret financial and business information
• Proficient computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Preferred working knowledge of Bloomberg Terminal
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and use sound judgment when handling business and financial information
• The ability to provide seamless, trustworthy, attentive and resourceful (S.T.A.R.) customer service
