Job summary

WoodmenLife is seeking an Actuarial Intern for a 10-week summer program in Omaha. The role provides hands-on experience across Product Development, Inforce Management, and Valuation.

You will participate in weekly cohort sessions with executives and present a capstone on your internship experience, highlighting project outcomes and skills gained. Ideal candidates are rising sophomores to seniors majoring in Actuarial Science, pursuing ASA, and maintaining a 3.0+ GPA.

Qualifications

  • Rising Sophomore, Junior or Senior in college with area of study in Actuarial Science
  • Working toward ASA certification, with at least one SOA exam completed
  • Must have a 3.0 or higher GPA
  • Ability to work 38.75 hours per week
  • Proficient computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience with spreadsheet, database and word processing software
  • Exposure to programming solutions, such as Python, R, VB, SQL, or comparable language
  • The ability to provide seamless, trustworthy, attentive and resourceful (S.T.A.R.) customer service.
  • Passion for making an impact in local communities
  • Accountability: Takes ownership of decisions and responsibilities, follows through on commitments, prioritizes tasks effectively, and builds trust through reliability, integrity, and problem resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Performs work related to life insurance and annuity Product Development, Inforce Management, or Valuation, as assigned by management.
  • Gains broad exposure to the WoodmenLife organization by meeting weekly with the Internship Cohort, with Executive Leadership, and one-on-one with leaders at the division level.
  • Summarizes and presents capstone presentation of internship experience including project accomplishments, skill development, and key learnings.

The Actuarial Intern assists with a variety of actuarial functions by providing support that will help the Actuarial division meet daily objectives. This is a accomplished through exposure to the planning, execution and evaluation stages of various work projects and initiatives, to gain workplace experience in the insurance industry and Actuarial field.

Project Description:

Projects are sourced across the Product Development, Inforce Management, and Valuation Teams and would be solidified closer to the internship.
