Job summary

Peterbilt Motors Company in Denton, Texas is seeking a Manufacturing Quality Intern to support the Quality team with data analytics, process improvement, and documentation of assembly procedures. The role offers involvement in Six Sigma projects and continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing environment.

The intern will work on data dashboards, participate in root cause analysis, and help develop error-proofing methods while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an Engineering or Business/Operations Management program and has completed sophomore year.

Responsibilities

• Data analytics: create Tableau dashboards for plant use.
• Create and implement Data Inspect for all buyoff locations around the plant.
• Study and analyze plant assembly processes.
• Develop and document plant assembly processes.
• Address special projects as they arise.
• Assist in continuous improvement: Quality projects, data collection, root-cause analysis, error proofing, Six Sigma projects.

Requisition Summary

Peterbilt Motors Company, a PACCAR Company, has an opening for a Manufacturing Quality Intern to add to our Quality team in Denton, Texas.

Job Responsibilities

This position will assist in implementing projects to improve overall product quality performance. The job also includes assistance in Continuous Improvement Efforts focusing on, Departmental Quality Supplier Improvement Projects, Ergonomic Improvement Projects, Line Balance Optimization and Improvements in Overall Departmental Efficiency and Defect Reduction and Warranty Projects.

• Data analytics creating tableau dashboards for plant use.

• Flexibility to address special projects as they arise

Required Qualifications

The candidate we seek will be currently enrolled in an Engineering Program or Business/Operations Management Program and have completed their sophomore year of College.

Preferred Qualifications

The qualifications that are important to be successful in this position are as follows:

• Excellent technical, verbal, written and presentations skills.
• Proven problem-solving skills are required.
• Ability to work in a self-directed environment is preferred.
• Must be flexible to work portions of day and evening shift.
• Be able to stand for prolonged periods of time.
• MS office, specifically Excel and Power Point
• A 3.0 GPA or higher is preferable.
• Experience or Classroom Training in Statistics, Quality Control, PFEMAs and Operations Management preferred.
• Work will be performed in a Manufacturing Environment with extended exposure to noise, dust, paint fumes etc.
• Work may also be performed at offsite locations.
