Job summary

PACCAR's Peterbilt Motors Company in Denton, TX seeks a Manufacturing Quality Intern to join the Quality team for the summer. This internship emphasizes data analytics, process improvement, and Six Sigma projects in a manufacturing setting.

You will build Tableau dashboards, study assembly processes, and help implement data-driven improvements across the plant. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an Engineering or Operations Management program and sophomore year completed.
• GPA around 3.0+ preferred.
• Excellent technical, verbal, written and presentation skills.
• Experience with statistics or quality concepts is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in projects to improve overall product quality.

• Create and implement Data Inspect for all buyoff locations around the plant.
• Study and analyze plant assembly processes.

Requisition Summary

Peterbilt Motors Company, a PACCAR Company, has an opening for a Manufacturing Quality Intern to add to our Quality team in Denton, Texas.

Job Responsibilities

This position will assist in implementing projects to improve overall product quality performance. The job also includes assistance in Continuous Improvement Efforts focusing on, Departmental Quality Supplier Improvement Projects, Ergonomic Improvement Projects, Line Balance Optimization and Improvements in Overall Departmental Efficiency and Defect Reduction and Warranty Projects.

• Data analytics creating tableau dashboards for plant use.
• Create and implement Data Inspect for all buyoff locations around the plant
• Study, and analyze plant assembly processes
• Development and document plant assembly processes
• Flexibility to address special projects as they arise
• Assist in continuous improvement efforts focusing on:
  • Quality Improvement Projects
  • Data Collection Efforts
  • Root Cause Analysis
  • Development of Error Proofing Methods
  • Six Sigma Projects

Required Qualifications

The candidate we seek will be currently enrolled in an Engineering Program or Business/Operations Management Program and have completed their sophomore year of College.

Preferred Qualifications

The qualifications that are important to be successful in this position are as follows:

• Excellent technical, verbal, written and presentations skills.
• Proven problem-solving skills are required.
• Ability to work in a self-directed environment is preferred.
• Must be flexible to work portions of day and evening shift.
• Be able to stand for prolonged periods of time.
• MS office, specifically Excel and Power Point
• A 3.0 GPA or higher is preferable.
• Experience or Classroom Training in Statistics, Quality Control, PFEMAs and Operations Management preferred.
• Work will be performed in a Manufacturing Environment with extended exposure to noise, dust, paint fumes etc.
• Work may also be performed at offsite locations.
