Job summary

WoodmenLife is seeking a Cybersecurity Intern for the Summer 2027 program to support planning, design and implementation of security controls. The role emphasizes automation, audits, risk assessments and cross-functional collaboration within the Information Security team.

Ideal candidates are rising sophomores, juniors or seniors in Cybersecurity, Information Systems or CS, with a minimum 3.0 GPA and a strong teamwork, analytical mindset, and growth-oriented attitude.

Qualifications

  • Rising Sophomore,Junior or Senior pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science or related field(s).
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA required.
  • Ability to work 38.75 hours per week.
  • Clear and effective communication in a collaborative setting.
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented and reliable.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning, design and implementation of security controls.
  • Support security operations automation and analysis tasks.
  • Conduct security audits and document findings with remediation suggestions.
  • Assist with TPSP program risk assessments and evidence collection.
  • Participate in development and implementation of security policies and procedures.

Cybersecurity Intern – Summer 202 7

WoodmenLife is looking for a Cybersecurity I ntern to join our team! Ready to make an impact this summer? In this role, you will d evelop an understanding of the fundamental controls, processes and tasks that make up a cybersecurity program by assisting with the planning, design, and implement ation of security controls to safeguard WoodmenLife .

Assist with a variety of department administrative functions to meet daily objects and project deadlines. Performs research and analysis to support departmental needs. Develop security solutions or process enhancements that adequately address risk while improving business efficiency. In addition, contribute to security operations automation to increase the speed, consistency, and effectiveness of security outcomes.

We are looking for someone to:

Gain broad exposure to the WoodmenLife organization by meeting weekly with the Internship Cohort, collectively with Executive Leadership, and one-on-one with leaders at the division level.

Summarize and present capstone presentation of the internship experience including project accomplishments, skill development, and key learnings.

Assists with the development, implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of Information Security controls to ensure they satisfy WL policies and standards, including configuration and health checks of operational tooling.

Conducts security audits on applications and systems used by WL to document and present findings along with recommended solutions, alternatives, and procedural changes to improve WL’s security posture; partners with engineers to validate remediation and measures impact.

Conducts research and/or development for new information security techniques to evaluate their applicability to WL’s Information Resources, with an emphasis on opportunities to automate repetitive analysis and response tasks.

Assists with the Third-Party Service Provider (TPSP) program to include monitoring third provider security profiles, assisting with risk assessments, and updating documentation; explores automation to streamline evidence collection and ticketing.

Assists with specialized projects to support WoodmenLife strategic initiatives.

Shadows multiple office positions and train in a variety of tasks.

Develops skills related to program of study through participation in internal training opportunities.

Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Rising Sophomore, Junior or Senior in college, currently pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science or related field(s).

Must have a 3.0 or higher GPA

Ability to work 38.75 hours per week

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively while working collaboratively.

Self-motivated and a team player.

What You’ll Do :

The project(s) emphasize a strategic focus on enhancing the overall security posture of WoodmenLif e by providing fresh perspective, valuable insights, and recommendations for improving security measures, contributing to the continuous improvement of the department.

In addition to operational support, you will participate in the development and implementation of security policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements. You will also be involved in targeted projects such as vulnerability assessments, artificial intelligence, internal security audits, detection engineering, log onboarding/data quality improvement, and automation of security workflows to reduce toil and speed response.
