Job summary

Bollinger Shipyards is a leading designer and builder of high-performance marine vessels, seeking an Electronic Technician with at least five years of experience. The role involves laying out, building, testing, installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying electrical and electronic components, parts, equipment, and systems on shipboard and support structures.

Responsibilities

• Discusses layout and assembly procedures with Electrical Engineer.
• Develops sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of electronic units.
• Assembles circuitry and conducts testing according to instructions and manuals.
• Recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
• Sets up test apparatus and conducts functional, environmental, and life-cycle tests on prototypes or production units.
• Adjusts, calibrates, aligns, and modifies circuitry and components and records effects on performance.
• Writes technical reports and creates charts and schematics describing system operating characteristics and failures.
• Checks functioning of newly installed equipment in vessels and structures under actual operating conditions.

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated Electronic Technician with at least 5 years of experience as an Electronic Technician. The candidate will lay out, build, test, install, troubleshoot, repair, and modify electrical and electronic components, parts, equipment, and systems.

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Electronic Technician

SKILLS

• Ability to read and interpret drawing, schematics and other electrical/electronic technical documentation
• Familiar with applicable commercial and Government specifications and codes
• Comprehensive knowledge at component/system start up, testing, troubleshooting and repair

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Discusses layout and assembly procedures and problems with Electrical Engineer
• Develops sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of electronic units
• Assembles circuitry, performs terminations or conducts testing according to engineering instructions, technical manuals and knowledge of electronic systems and components
• Recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance
• Sets up standard test apparatus or devises test equipment and circuitry to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and life cycle tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production model
• Adjusts, calibrates, aligns, and modifies circuitry and components and records effects on unit performance
• Writes technical reports and develops charts, graphs, and schematics to describe and illustrate system's operating characteristics, malfunctions, deviations from design specifications, and functional limitations
• Checks functioning of newly installed equipment in vessels and structures to evaluate system performance under actual operating condition
