Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years shipbuilding experience or 5 years in a similar position within the company.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical guidance.
  • Comfort with confined spaces and working at elevations; willingness to wear respirators when required.
  • Willingness to work overtime to minimize project delays and maintain schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and coordinates craft activities for the assigned workstation.
  • Develops, reviews, and maintains construction plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Reads drawings, specs, and guidance documents to ensure correct implementation.
  • Ensures materials and labor resources are available to meet task needs.
  • Maintains schedules and collaborates with production management to optimize crafts.

Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated Numerical Control Craft Leader with preferably at least 7 years shipbuilding or 5 years of continuous Company experience in a similar position. The candidate will be responsible for directing their craft in the successful implementation of workstation activities as it relates to associated shipbuilding and/or repair functions.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum of 7 years shipbuilding or 5 years of continuous Company experience in a similar position preferred
  • Must be able to work in confined/enclosed spaces
  • Must be able to work/climb in elevations greater than 5’
  • Must be able to wear/work a respirator when applicable
SKILLS
  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of craft-specific processes and techniques
  • Well-organized manager, with directly applicable experience in resource planning and scheduling
  • Works well with other craft managers
  • Exhibits high energy levels and maintains a good attitude
  • Familiar with standard marine practice and general specifications for construction/repair
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Directs and coordinates related craft activities for assigned workstation
  • Develops, reviews, and maintains construction plans, schedules, budgets and other essential records
  • Can read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and other technical guidance documentation
  • Ensures material and labor resources necessary to accomplish tasks are readily available
  • Maintains work schedules; works overtime as needed to minimize project delay
  • Meets with other members of production management to coordinate craft effort
  • Optimizes craft activities to produce a high-quality work product consistent with Company standards
  • Trains and motivates workforce to result in high levels of productivity
  • Addresses daily personnel, equipment and facility issues; develops viable solutions and remedial actions
  • Confers with department supervisors on hires, discharges, promotions or transfers of personnel
  • Enforces all Company policies, procedures, work practices and safety standards
