Job summary

Westwood Elementary School in Cincinnati is seeking a Paraprofessional to provide 1:1 support for students with special needs. The role works under a certified staff member to help meet instructional goals and duties across the classroom and non-instructional areas.

The position requires an associate degree or higher, a high school diploma, and the ability to obtain an Ohio Educational Aide Permit. Prior experience with children is desirable, and strong communication and problem-solving skills

Qualifications

Associate's Degree or higher.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Passing the Parapro Assessment examination as required by the No Child Left Behind Act.
Prior experience working with children desirable.
Must be able to obtain and maintain an Educational Aide Permit issued by the State of Ohio

Responsibilities

Assist certified staff in the classroom to meet instructional goals.
Support students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning.
Aid in record-keeping documenting student learning and performance.
Assist with classroom supervision including lunch programs, bus duty, playground duty, and study hall.
Follow all safety rules and regulations and maintain confidentiality.
Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
