Job summary

Cincinnati Public Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional (Special Needs/1:1/Units) to support students at Western Hills University HS in Cincinnati, Ohio. Under the supervision of a certified staff member, you will assist with classroom goals while helping maintain a safe, respectful classroom environment.

The position requires an Associate degree or higher, Ohio Educational Aide Permit, and strong communication with diverse learners.

Qualifications

• Must communicate effectively, solve problems and work independently.
• Assists and guides students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction and other skills.
• Works with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning and implement programs.
• Assists professional staff in administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests and assessments.
• Assists with record-keeping and classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions and keep students on task.

Responsibilities

• Support students in classroom to meet instructional goals under supervision of certified staff.
• Free teachers from non-professional duties to focus on instruction.
• Assist with reading, math, language arts, computer activities and other targeted learning.
• Supervise and support students in non-instructional areas such as lunch, bus, playground and study hall.
• Accompany students on field trips and help with supervision.
