Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; AND one of the following education requirements.
• Associate Arts or higher degree, OR 72-quarter credits, OR pass an academically rigorous assessment.
• Demonstrated ability and aptitude to perform the responsibilities listed.
• Possess high moral and ethical standards.
• Demonstrated ability to develop positive relationships with staff, students, and families.

Responsibilities

• Develop positive, professional relationships with students which build trust and confidence.
• Provide secondary instructional support in the classroom under the supervision of the teacher.
• Work with all students, individually or in small/large groups, to reinforce learning.
• Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills.
• Assist with classroom setup and prepare materials for specialized instructional activities.
• Observe and utilize techniques used by special education staff and therapists.
• Assist in data collection as prescribed by the school-based team.
• Operate and care for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.
• Follow appropriate protocols reporting student incidents to supervisor.
