Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools in Tacoma, WA seeks a Paraeducator to support a Grade 2 student with a disability. Expected start: November 2026. The position is 0.8125 FTE (6.5 hours/day, 7 hours on campus including a 30-minute lunch) with a 183-day school year.

Certification required: state General Paraeducator Certificate and district training. Duties include instructional support and personal care under a certificated teacher.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 72 credit hours and one year of experience with special needs individuals.
• CPR/First Aid certification required within 90 days of employment.
• Must complete district restraint training and maintain certification.
• CIC training may be required as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students individually or in small groups as directed by the teacher.
• Assist with personal care needs including feeding, diapering, toileting and mobility.
• Supervise students during recess, lunch, and bus loading/unloading; support bus drivers and field trips.
