Job summary

Salem Public Schools is seeking an Intensive Instructional Paraprofessional (1:1) to support students with disabilities at Horace Mann Laboratory School. This school-year position emphasizes collaboration with teachers to implement accommodations and behavioral supports in a dynamic urban setting.

Responsibilities include working with students on IEP goals, data collection, and assisting with technology and learning devices to access remote instruction, while upholding safety and professionalism

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Forty‑eight (48) credit hours or an associate degree, or a valid ParaPro/WorkKeys score.
• Safety‑Care training or willingness to be trained.
• Minimum of one year experience with elementary‑aged children.
• Second language proficiency a plus (Spanish/Portuguese).
• Bilingual candidates and candidates of color encouraged to apply.
• Current authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate understanding of each student’s profile and learning needs.
• Support general and special education teachers on an ongoing basis.
• Reinforce lessons with individuals or small groups.
• Assist with classroom management and supervision.
• Administer behavior modification programs and collect data under the teacher’s direction.
• Implement accommodations and strategies for instruction and skill reinforcement.
• Cover classroom during teacher absence.
• Escort and assist students in the building and on community-based experiences.
• Follow supervisor directions and ensure student safety at all times.
• Assist with technology access for remote instruction.
• Attend district and building professional development and training.

Education

Forty‑eight (48) Credit Hours of College Coursework or an Associate’s Degree, or a passing score on ParaPro/WorkKeys assessments
