Job summary

ChanceLight Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education is seeking a Behavior Specialist to join the Special Education team in a dynamic, student-centered environment. You will implement proactive behavioral strategies, support classroom staff, and utilize ABA principles to improve student outcomes.

The role focuses on crisis management, data collection, and collaboration with IEP teams to ensure safe, effective classroom practices and consistent program execution.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent w/ passage of basic skills test.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field preferred.
• RBT credential preferred or in process of obtaining.
• Ability to obtain and maintain crisis management training certification.
• Experience providing behavioral instruction/support to children, preferably in special education/behavioral health.
• Knowledge of ABA, FBA, PBIS, and BIP concepts.
• Strong communication and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data recording tools.

Responsibilities

• Implement targeted interventions to enhance positive student outcomes.
• Reinforce positive behaviors and model effective strategies for staff.
• Maintain accurate records for SBS and BIPs.
• Collect and chart behavioral data to monitor progress.
• Provide guidance to classroom staff on behavior management.
• Apply ABA principles under supervision to improve outcomes.
• Develop functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans.
• Assist teachers with instructional activities and supervision.
• Provide crisis de-escalation and safety procedures.
