Job summary

Soliant in Illinois is seeking an ASL interpreter to provide 1:1 interpretation for a Deaf or Hard of Hearing student in a school setting. The role runs from 7:45am to 2:45pm with a 30-minute lunch, interpreting lessons and classroom discussions to ensure access to instruction and activities.

You will collaborate with teachers and staff to support academic and social inclusion, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism with a reliable schedule.

Qualifications

• Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter or completion of relevant interpreter training.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
• Experience in school settings or with DHH individuals is valued.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Confidentiality and professionalism in daily interactions.
• Punctual and reliable with a consistent schedule.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct 1:1 interpreting for a DHH student from 7:45am to 2:45pm, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Interpret classroom lessons, discussions, activities, and peer interactions.
• Facilitate access to all instructional content and experiences.
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to meet academic and social needs.
• Support the student’s participation in school routines and activities.
• Adapt interpreting style for diverse learning environments.
