Job summary

Henry County School District seeks a qualified American Sign Language Interpreter to provide real-time ASL interpretation for a 1:1 student across classroom instruction and group activities.

The role requires ISBE endorsement in Educational Sign Language Interpretation, with EIPA 3.5+ or RID or IL BEI certification. You will tailor signing to IEP goals and work closely with teachers and staff.

Qualifications

• Must hold Illinois ISBE endorsement with Educational Sign Language Interpreter.
• EIPA 3.5+ or RID certification or IL BEI certification required.
• Provide accurate, real-time ASL/spoken English interpretation across instruction.
• Tailor communication to student IEP goals and age.
• Review lesson plans and terms in advance to prepare sign vocabulary.
• Interpret across non-academic settings to ensure full access to curriculum.
• Collaborate with teachers, IEP team, and staff; maintain confidentiality per RID code.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time ASL interpretation for 1:1 student during instruction and lectures.
• Interpret in classrooms, lectures, group discussions, and assignments.
• Collaborate with general education and special education teams to align goals.
• Attend IEP meetings and interpreter training sessions.
