Qualifications

• Experience with modernization, retrofit and lifecycle service solutions.
• Experience with project management and execution of industrial projects is a plus.
• Excellent communication, leadership and negotiation skills.
• Fluent in English; willing to travel.

This position reports to:

Your Role And Responsibilities

The Modernization Solutions Manager is responsible for growing the ABB Motion Services modernization business by developing and executing modernization opportunities across the installed base. Modernization includes replacement, upgrades, retrofits, energy efficiency solutions, and other lifecycle improvement initiatives that improve customer productivity, reliability, sustainability, and asset lifecycle performance.

The role is accountable for modernization business performance, including sales budget achievement, order intake, pipeline growth, and effective project execution, by identifying and converting opportunities across ABB and third-party installed base. Working closely with Front-End Sales, Engineering, Service Operations, Project Management, and external partners, the role acts as the focal point for modernization, ensuring commercial and execution effectiveness throughout the modernization lifecycle while leading the Modernization Solutions team.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Grow modernization business by developing the modernization strategy, expanding the opportunity pipeline, identifying opportunities across ABB and third-party installed base, and creating customer value propositions that improve ABB's market position while supporting long-term business objectives.
• Coordinate Front-End Sales in identifying, qualifying, and securing modernization opportunities by coordinating solution development, application engineering, and commercial proposals, ensuring competitive and value-driven modernization offerings aligned with customer needs.
• Lead the Modernization Solutions team and coordinate Engineering, Project Management, Service Operations, suppliers, and external partners throughout the modernization lifecycle to ensure on-time project execution, deepen strategic partnerships, and continuously improve modernization capabilities, processes, and best practices across the organization.
• Lead, coach, and develop the Modernization Solutions team by building technical and commercial capabilities, setting priorities, allocating resources, and building a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications For The Role

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in industrial automation, motion, or related businesses.
• Demonstrated experience in sales management and business development, with responsibility for commercial performance and business growth.
• Solid technical knowledge of drives, motors, generators, and industrial applications.
• Solid experience in modernization, replacement, retrofit, upgrade, and lifecycle service solutions.
• Solid service background with a good understanding of lifecycle services, installed base management, and customer operations.
• Experience in project management and execution of industrial projects would be an advantage.
• Effective communication, leadership, negotiation, and persuasion skills.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
• Willingness to travel.
