The Magnum Ice Cream Company is seeking an experienced R&D lead to drive product development for Out of Home brands in the METSA region. You will partner with regional Marketing, Supply Chain, regulatory teams and QA to translate consumer needs into scalable ice cream innovations.

Lead lab, pilot plant activities and multi-disciplinary teams to deliver cost‑effective, high‑quality products while upholding Magnum standards and local regulations.

The role

This role is a fixed-term position. Magnum Ice Cream Company is the place where you can bring your purpose to life with the work that you do – creating a better business and a better world. In this role, you will be Leading all R&D activities for a specific part of the Out of Home portfolio and business partnering with the regional teams.

What You'll Be Responsible For

• Bringing passion for regional ice cream business, and enthusiasm to meet consumer and customer needs to shape and deliver brilliant and sustainable product experiences. Within your portfolio, you will manage innovation, quality, and complexity reduction, in addition to waste and cost reduction.
• Leading on the R&D Community of Practice for the METSA business, collaborating closely with the local teams (Marketing, Technical Data Management, Regulatory Affairs) and a few R&D experts from across the other brands to support the local business with a wide range of topics requiring R&D support: scoping impact and responding to local legislation changes, answering authority challenges, providing technical expertise in PR or QA incidents, building product love and expertise in the local team through technical training and assessment of products against local competition, upskilling and guiding the local teams through the innovation & renovation process for local needs.
• R&D lead for a portfolio of Out of Home brands & products.
• Partnering with key stakeholders (Marketing, Supply chain) to define the innovation & renovation roadmap for specific part of the Out of home portfolio. Technical management and product development of innovation funnel.
• Maintain effective and timely communication of project status with business partners.
• Generates ideas by investigating new and alternative materials, processes, equipment. Follow and understand trends in market regarding new products and technologies.
• Plan, coordinate & execute lab, and pilot plant works of his/her projects. Delivering data management tasks to the team for recipe and artwork label creation.
• You will assist the team to plan and execute Pilot Plant and Factory trials, lab experiments and tasting sessions, to ensure that these activities are conducted safely and efficiently. In close coordination with the processing and supply chain teams, develop manufacturing processes to scale the product manufacture from lab to pilot to main plant.
• Coordinating necessary documentation for Out of home portfolio in relevant projects as Technical Project Lead.
• Levering expertise and that of the global R&D teams to identify opportunities for cost‑optimization within the METSA portfolio of products, formulations, raw materials, and factory processes. By analyzing technical, financial and supply chain data, you will quantify the risks and rewards associated with each opportunity and prioritize accordingly.
• Good governance. Leading monthly cross‑functional steering committee, ensuring effective communication between the Steerco and project teams, prioritizing resources, and unblocking issues.
• Continuously improving performance and efficiency by evolving ways of working.
• Coach and mentor the team, supporting them via on‑the‑job training specifically on TPLship for METSA region.
• Assessment of new technologies and technical opportunities with the latest developments in the relevant area.
• Ensure the compliance of the work to the Magnum Code of Business Principles.

• A deep knowledge of and passion for product design and creative product development preferably in ice cream category.
• High level communication and influencing skills are essential to manage interfaces. This role requires management of stakeholders across METSA region.
• Understanding of scale‑up and operational implementation.
