Job summary

TEMSA is a leading Turkish bus manufacturer seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to own door and hatch system development. You will drive cross-functional collaboration across design, engineering, and suppliers to achieve robust, safe, and cost-effective solutions for front/rear doors, engine hood, and service hatches.

Must have 5+ years in automotive design, strong CATIA skills, and experience with DFMEA/RFI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering field.
• Minimum 5 years of product design experience in automotive/bus/rail systems.
• Experience with door & closures systems is a plus.
• Proficiency in CATIA V5/V6 and MS Office.
• Good command of English and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assuming technical responsibility for all door and hatch systems on the bus.
• Managing development of doors, hood, service hatches, and related systems.
• Ensuring compatibility with vehicle architecture and defining technical requirements.
• Creating RFI, DFMEA, and DVP documents and communicating with suppliers.
• Guiding modular platform development and maintaining cost/ manufacturability balance.
• Coordinating with homologation and testing teams; ensuring test plans meet system requirements.
• Analyzing test results and implementing design improvements.
• Ensuring designs are manufacturable, assembleable, and serviceable.
• Leading root cause analyses and coordinating critical technical decisions.
• Relocating to Adana to support TEMSA operations.

Job Description:

• Assuming technical responsibility for all door and hatch systems on the bus.
• Managing the development of systems such as front/rear passenger doors, driver's door, engine hood, front movable bumpers, service hatches, luggage compartment hatches, charging/power access hatches, wiper mechanisms, disabled ramps, etc.
• Ensuring the compatibility of systems with vehicle architecture.
• Defining technical requirements, functions, and performance criteria for door and hatch systems. Creating RFI, DFMEA, and DVP documents and communicating with suppliers and internal teams through these documents.
• Supporting the creation of common platforms and modular structures.
• Preventing the transfer of problems between vehicles.
• Guiding the development of door and lid concepts in new product projects.
• Managing kinematics, opening and closing motion envelopes, mechanism layout, and packaging studies.
• Ensuring that technical decisions are made between design and engineering.
• Evaluating design changes in terms of function, cost, manufacturability, and user experience.
• Monitoring the compliance of door and cover systems with relevant national and international regulations.
• Managing technical requirements regarding passenger safety, entrapment risks, emergency exits, locking, opening/closing forces, and safe operation.
• Coordinating with relevant teams in homologation and testing processes.
• Ensuring the creation of test plans that comply with system requirements.
• Monitoring prototype, vehicle testing, and verification processes.
• Analyzing test results and guiding necessary design improvements.
• Analyzing problems that arise after mass production and developing permanent solutions.
• Ensuring that designs are manufacturable, assembleable, and serviceable.
• Managing technical coordination with suppliers.
• Optimizing costs in terms of part count, mechanism complexity, materials, manufacturing method, and assembly time.
• Monitoring the alignment of the design with target costs.
• Managing technical problems from the field, production, testing, and customer feedback.
• Leading root cause analyses.
• Assuming a decision-making/coordinating role in critical technical problems.
• Establishing standards, business processes, and design rules to eliminate recurring problems.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of product design experience in the automotive, commercial vehicle, bus, railway systems, or similar industries.
• Experience with door & closures systems,
• Proficiency in CATIA V5/V6 is preferred.
• Good command of MS Office applications.
• Experience using SAP is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of technical drawings, GD&T, and product development processes.
• Experience in problem-solving methodologies and root cause analysis.
• Good command of English.
• Strong communication skills, teamwork orientation, and a results-driven mindset.
• Willing to live in or relocate to Adana.
