Job summary

ebebek is seeking an Accounting and Tax Manager to join our driven Accounting and Finance team in Istanbul. You will oversee general accounting, tax returns, and fixed asset management while coordinating with auditors and overseas entities.

The ideal candidate holds a CPA (SMMM) license, 12+ years in accounting and tax, strong Turkish tax knowledge, and proven people management in a retail/high-volume environment. Fluent English required to communicate with overseas partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or related field.
• At least 12 years of experience in general accounting and tax.
• Preferably experience in retail sector with high transaction volumes.
• At least 5-7 years of people management experience.
• Strong knowledge of Turkish Tax Procedure Law and tax legislation.
• Experience in inventory accounting, inventory control and costing processes.
• Holder of a Certified Public Accountant (SMMM) license.
• Proficient in SAP.
• Proficient in MS Office applications.
• Strong written and spoken English skills for overseas communications.
• Experience in accounting processes for overseas operations is preferred.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, process improvement and people management skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure general accounting processes comply with legislation and policies.
• Manage monthly, periodic and annual closing processes and ensure accuracy of accounts.
• Ensure fixed asset records, depreciation and inventory controls are accurate.
• Prepare and file tax returns and monitor changes in legislation.
• Coordinate with CPAs, auditors, tax authorities and public institutions.
• Manage inventory accounting, stock counts and cost of goods sold controls.
• Establish and improve control mechanisms for financial records.
• Oversee overseas operations accounting and coordinate with country service providers.
• Ensure timely periodic closing, account reconciliation and statutory accounting for overseas entities.
• Lead accounting and inventory control teams and support their development.
• Lead internal control, process improvement, digitalization and automation initiatives.

Position: Accounting and Tax Manager

We are looking for a Accounting and Tax Manager to join our highly driven Accounting and Finance team based in Istanbul.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or a related field,
• At least 12 years of experience in general accounting and tax,
• Preferably experienced in the retail sector and in companies with high transaction volumes,
• At least 5-7 years of people management experience,
• Strong knowledge of Turkish Tax Procedure Law and tax legislation,
• Experienced in inventory accounting, inventory control and costing processes,
• Holder of a Certified Public Accountant (SMMM) license,
• Proficient in SAP,
• Proficient in MS Office applications,
• Strong written and spoken English skills, at a level sufficient to actively communicate with consultants, accountants, law firms, banks and other service providers in overseas operations,
• Experience in accounting processes related to overseas operations is preferred,
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, process improvement and people management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure that general accounting processes are carried out in compliance with applicable legislation, company policies and procedures,
• Manage monthly, periodic and annual closing processes and ensure the accuracy of trial balance, balance sheet and income statement accounts,
• Ensure that fixed asset records, depreciation processes and fixed asset inventory controls are carried out accurately and regularly,
• Ensure that tax returns and other statutory filings are prepared accurately and on time, monitor changes in legislation and implement the necessary actions,
• Coordinate processes with Certified Public Accountants, independent auditors, tax authorities and other relevant public institutions,
• Manage inventory accounting and inventory control processes, including stock counts, inventory discrepancies, shrinkage, losses, inventory valuation and cost of goods sold controls,
• Establish and improve control mechanisms to ensure the accuracy and consistency of financial records and regularly monitor their effectiveness,
• Manage the accounting processes of overseas operations and subsidiaries through the Turkey-based team and coordinate with consultants and service providers in the relevant countries,
• Ensure that periodic closing, account reconciliation and statutory accounting processes of overseas entities are completed accurately and on time,
• Manage the general accounting and inventory control teams and support their professional development,
• Lead internal control, process improvement, digitalization and automation initiatives within accounting and tax processes.
