Job summary

SMBC Group is seeking a senior banker to cover the Digital Infrastructure sector in APAC ex-Japan. The role concentrates on origination and delivering tailor-made financing solutions to clients, leveraging deep product knowledge across banking teams.

You will build strong client relationships and contribute to regional revenue targets. The candidate should bring 10+ years in investment or corporate banking, with at least 3 years in Digital Infrastructure, and strong modelling and credit skills

Responsibilities

• Originate deals and lead client coverage in Digital Infrastructure across APAC ex-Japan.

• Develop and maintain long-term client relationships with stakeholders.
• Contribute to team budget via client coverage and KPI ownership.
• Monitor Digital Infrastructure sector trends and support ideation and pitches.

Job description

As part of the Industry Coverage Team – Digital Infrastructure, the candidate would focus on covering clients in Digital Infrastructure industry to originate and deliver tailor‑made solutions to clients in APAC ex-Japan. The asset classes covered under the Digital Infrastructure industry would include data centers, fiber networks, telecom towers, satellites and other digital connectivity asset classes.

Job Responsibilities

• Proactive deal origination efforts, including assisting Industry Lead, in the Digital Infrastructure space, as well as cross-selling opportunity identification and collaboration with multiple markets in the region
• Lead deal origination and client coverage in Digital Infrastructure space and co-work with multiple product teams / departments in execution process
• Develop and maintain quality, long-term relationships with clients and various stakeholders in the industry
• Actively contribute to the team's budget through client coverage within the Digital Infrastructure sphere, including taking ownership of client accounts and related KPIs
• Keep track of Digital Infrastructure sector trends / developments and potential opportunities in the market and help with ideation, client engagement and pitching efforts
• Playing an active role in the on-the-job training and development of the junior team members

Job Requirements

• Recognized degree in finance, accounting or related fields
• At least 10 years of relevant investment / corporate banking experience with strong banking product knowledge; at least 3 years Digital Infrastructure industry knowledge and transaction experience. Broader TMT experience would be an advantage
• Strong credit assessment, Excel modelling and PowerPoint skills
• Familiarity with the various financial industry and market databases (Bloomberg, Capital IQ, Mergermarket, etc.)
• Independent, self-motivated and strong team player with ability to work in multicultural team
• Ability to leverage and maximize output through internal and external support
