Job summary

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation is seeking an experienced Coverage professional to originate and deliver tailored Digital Infrastructure solutions for clients across APAC ex-Japan. You will lead client coverage for data centers, fiber networks, towers, satellites, and other digital connectivity assets.

The role requires a recognized degree in finance or accounting, 10+ years in investment banking, and at least 3 years in Digital Infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Recognized degree in finance, accounting or related fields.
• At least 10 years of investment/corporate banking experience with strong banking product knowledge.
• At least 3 years Digital Infrastructure industry knowledge and transaction experience; broader TMT experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Proactive deal origination efforts, including assisting Industry Lead, in Digital Infrastructure; cross-market collaboration.
• Lead deal origination and client coverage in Digital Infrastructure and coordinate with product teams.
• Develop and maintain long-term client relationships across stakeholders.
• Contribute to the team’s budget through client coverage and KPIs.
• Track Digital Infrastructure sector trends and opportunities; engage clients and pitch ideas.
• Mentor and train junior team members on the job.

As part of the Industry Coverage Team – Digital Infrastructure, the candidate would focus on covering clients in Digital Infrastructure industry to originate and deliver tailor‑made solutions to clients in APAC ex-Japan. The asset classes covered under the Digital Infrastructure industry would include data centers, fiber networks, telecom towers, satellites and other digital connectivity asset classes

Job Responsibilities

• Proactive deal origination efforts, including assisting Industry Lead, in the Digital Infrastructure space, as well as cross‑selling opportunity identification and collaboration with multiple markets in the region
• Lead deal origination and client coverage in Digital Infrastructure space and co‑work with multiple product teams / departments in execution process
• Develop and maintain quality, long‑term relationships with clients and various stakeholders in the industry
• Actively contribute to the team’s budget through client coverage within the Digital Infrastructure sphere, including taking ownership of client accounts and related KPIs
• Keep track of Digital Infrastructure sector trends / developments and potential opportunities in the market and help with ideation, client engagement and pitching efforts
• Playing an active role in the on‑the‑job training and development of the junior team members

Job Requirements

• Recognized degree in finance, accounting or related fields
• At least 10 years of relevant investment / corporate banking experience with strong banking product knowledge; at least 3 years Digital Infrastructure industry knowledge and transaction experience. Broader TMT experience would be an advantage
• Strong credit assessment, Excel modelling and PowerPoint skills
• Familiarity with the various financial industry and market databases (Bloomberg, Capital IQ, Mergermarket, etc.)
• Independent, self‑motivated and strong team player with ability to work in multicultural team
• Ability to leverage and maximize output through internal and external support
