Job summary

Upper Spring Consulting Pte Ltd invites an experienced Vessel IT Engineer to join the IT Department. You will manage, support, maintain, and upgrade the on-board IT infrastructure across vessels, providing remote support and on-board assistance as required.

You will develop IT knowledge in networking, telecommunication, and cyber security within a multicultural team, with on-call rotations and audits as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in Computer Science or equivalent with 2-5 years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems and Applications (Office 365, MS Windows server, Windows 10, Hyper-V, Active Directory), Antivirus, network switches, UPS, firewalls, storage/backup and replication systems.
• Experience implementing and supporting cyber security solutions is preferred.
• Knowledge of hardware troubleshooting, data cabling and WiFi infrastructure.
• Knowledge of ships automation systems will be a plus.
• Ambitious, self-motivated, fast learner with can-do attitude and genuine interest in all IT Support aspects.
• Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and willingness to work extended hours.
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for high-pressure environments.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide remote support for vessels, crew and on-board support.
• Install, maintain, and optimize IT systems, including networks and satellite/radio communications.
• Participate in design and improvement of vessels' IT infrastructure.
• Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
• Perform system and network updates remotely or on-board.
• Liaise with vendors and IT personnel for resolution or new tasks.
• Maintain IT security, backup solutions.
• Be the L1 helpdesk contact on escalations.
• Provide on-call weekend support as part of rotation.
• Boarding of vessels for audits and ad-hoc works.
