Mandarin Oriental, Singapore is looking for a Telephone Operator to join our Telephone team.
Overview
Based at Mandarin Oriental, Singapore within the Telephone Department, the Telephone Operator is responsible for handling incoming and outgoing calls, assisting guests with inquiries, processing requests, transferring calls efficiently, ensuring accurate message taking, and providing exceptional service to enhance guest satisfaction. The Telephone Operator reports to the Telecommunications Manager.
Responsibilities
- Provide guidance to colleagues within the assigned shift, overseeing efficient operations of the Telephone Department.
- Answer phone calls promptly, observe telephone etiquette, maintain a positive attitude, and be knowledgeable of the NEC UA PBX, functions and features.
- Attend to guest requests promptly and articulate responses clearly.
- Raise faults and maintenance issues in the system promptly.
- Follow daily task checklists and document completion.
- Check wake-up call time requests (FITS, Crew, Groups) and process promptly.
- Check incoming text or fax messages and ensure delivery to guest rooms meets standards.
- Test telephone and line faults and coordinate with external contractors as needed; raise PR/Checkscm for all work performed by external contractors.
- Understand telecommunication wiring rates and requests from sales for functions or guest rooms; process efficiently.
- Know IDD rates and perform IDD call checks for overseas calls and ensure postings in HMS.
- Maintain knowledge of hotel telephone and trunk inventory and programming via PCPro.
- Keep the HMS Concierge Directory information current.
- Maintain a high grooming standard while on duty and adhere to Hotel Policies and Procedures.
- Have a thorough understanding of the various services provided by the Hotel and be well informed about Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group.
Qualifications
- Preferably experience in a similar role or hotel environment.
- Good communication skills and enjoyment of guest interaction.
- Ability to work on rotational shifts including weekends and public holidays.
