Job summary

Sika Singapore is seeking a dedicated Technical Service Lead to oversee laboratory trials, applications, and daily team coordination, while providing expert technical support to customers, evaluating new raw materials, and driving product development to meet market requirements.

You will also support sales strategies, optimize formulations, supervise the concrete team, and collaborate with production and QC to ensure reliable test results and continuous improvement across projects.

CORE PURPOSE

To mainly lead laboratory trials, applications and organize team resources on a daily basis, including technical support to customers, new/alternative raw materials evaluation, identifying the new vendors and alternative raw materials & product development to meet specific requirements to support Target Market Concrete. To support the implementation of sales strategies and policies in the assigned area.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• TECHNICAL SERVICE & SUPPORT 1. Carry out and ensure that activities such as material preparation, trial mix, product demo and making wet and dry samples etc are in accordance to standard/in-house procedures in order to maintain a high level of reliability & quality in and outside of the laboratory.
• Provide technical inputs/recommendations to strategy development and implementation based on analysis of product performance in comparison to competitor products.
• Provide technical support to customers as troubleshooters and technical consultant, including handling/follow up complaints on technical related issues.
• Supervise team members by providing advice and technical direction including daily planning, work assignment and prioritization of work.
• Provide expertise in technical support to sales team & customer for both pre & post sales business.
• Visit & establish relationship/connection with customers to collect field information of customer expectation/problems on product performance/technical service needs to verify product design suitability to application.

• PRODUCT APPLICATION AND DEVELOPMENT 6. Evaluate new/alternative raw materials and existing product formulation optimization to improve margin or reduce complexity.
• Act as technical service provider, troubleshooter and technical consultant to handle customer complaints including site visits, follow up as well as prepare investigation report.
• Ensure all records are well documented by recording and reviewing all test results, including analyzing results and report findings. Implement reporting procedures by reporting to supervisor of any abnormal results and recommend improvement ways.
• Support business by providing technical guidance/assistance to customer for product applications, including mix design optimization and troubleshooting to enhance pre and post sales service.
• Responsible for the accurate preparation of samples according to product formulation, to cater for laboratory evaluation as well as upon customer requests.
• Act as the interface of sales/marketing personnel and technical service laboratory/product training to meet customer expectations and solve technical related problems.
• Maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of newly developing technologies and manufacturing practices and share with sales/marketing personnel.

• SUPPORT TO DEFINE CUSTOMER NEEDS 13. Evaluate product and service marketability in terms of customers’ technical and manufacturing needs.

• PEOPLE MANAGEMENT 14. Manage & prioritise resources while providing guidance to concrete team in execution of their roles & responsibilities.
• 15. Identify & provide for team members’ development needs to further enhance skills & knowledge, and for continuous team improvement in providing support for the business.

• OTHERS 16. Ensure all lab equipment used are well maintained by ensuring proper set-up, use and maintenance of all lab equipment to ensure quality & reliability of test results.
• 17. Communicate with independent laboratories & other external parties for all construction chemicals products related testing.
• 18. Liaise and support production and QC team on any new product production (QC specifications and manufacturing procedures) or some product troubleshooting pertaining to customer complaints.
• 19. Maintain confidentiality of information eg BOM and raw materials.
• 20. Any other ad-hoc duties.
