Job summary

You will recruit and develop local teams, coordinate with the Singapore head office, and shape technical strategy for sustainable growth in Japan and internationally.

Qualifications

• Degree in civil/architectural discipline required.

• Proficiency in English and Japanese.

Responsibilities

• Lead and establish Ekosys' technical and construction operations in Japan.
• Develop technical strategies, business plans, and procedures for market entry.
• Identify opportunities and build relationships with clients and partners in Japan.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and licensing in Japan.
• Lead cross-border collaboration with Singapore HQ.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Technical Director to lead our technical operations, oversee construction-related activities, and spearhead the establishment and development of our business in Japan.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the establishment of the company's technical and construction operations in Japan.
• Develop and implement technical strategies, business plans, and operational procedures to support market entry and growth.
• Identify new business opportunities and establish relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, suppliers, and other industry stakeholders in Japan.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance on construction projects, engineering solutions, and project management.
• Ensure compliance with applicable Japanese construction regulations, building standards, safety requirements, and relevant licensing obligations.
• Coordinate with the Singapore head office on business development, project execution, budgeting, and operational matters.
• Lead, recruit, and develop local technical teams and manage external consultants and business partners.
• Evaluate project feasibility, technical risks, costs, and resource requirements.
• Drive quality assurance, sustainable construction practices, and continuous improvement.
• Represent the company in technical meetings, negotiations, and discussions with Japanese business partners and authorities.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or a related engineering discipline.
• Significant experience in the construction industry, including technical leadership and project management.
• Proven experience in senior management, technical direction, or construction business development.
• Experience in establishing business operations, managing projects, or developing partnerships in Japan will be an advantage.
• Good understanding of Japanese construction practices, regulations, and industry requirements.
• Strong leadership, strategic planning, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work closely with the Singapore head office and manage cross-border operations.
• Proficiency in English is required.
  Must be proficient in spoken and written Japanese and English.
• Able to conduct business negotiations, technical meetings, and discussions with Japanese clients and authorities independently.
• Willingness to travel to or be based in Japan, depending on business requirements.
