Job summary

ByteDance is building the next generation of conversational AI for Global E-commerce, a unified Agent system, multilingual and scalable for hundreds of millions of users. You will set the technical direction across post-training, agent harness, evaluation, and data flywheels, while mentoring 1-3 ICs and shaping the team’s growth.

Qualifications

• Degree in CS/AI/math or related quantitative field.
• Hands-on ML/NLP/DL experience; top PhDs may qualify with 4+ years.
• Strong Python and at least one of C++/Go/Rust for production-path code.
• Hands-on post-training or fine-tuning of frontier-class LLMs (≥7B, multi-node). Not API-only.
• Led at least one production LLM/Agent system from zero to one.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction and multi-quarter roadmap across post-training, agent harness, evaluation.
• Hire and develop 1-3 ICs; raise technical bar via design and code reviews.
• Contribute to coding by writing core PRs and design docs.
• Drive cross-team alignment with foundation-model, infra, product teams.
• Build observability, rollback tooling, and failure-mode taxonomies.
