Job summary

National University of Singapore seeks a dedicated professional to support student wellbeing within the Office of Student Life. You will advise students, intervene in crises, and help connect them with internal and external wellbeing resources.

The role involves developing pro-social behaviours and resilience through targeted programs, coordinating events, and maintaining partnerships with the University Health Centre and external agencies as needed.

Qualifications

  • Degree (Good Honours) or above from a recognized University, with a specialisation in social work, counselling, or the social sciences such as psychology or behavioural/human sciences.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience. Experience in the education sector is preferred, particularly in student development or student life.
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and a methodical approach to work.
  • Excellent team player with the ability to negotiate and compromise while considering the views of others.
  • Effective communicator with faculty members, students, external parties, and agent.
  • Well-developed graphic skills for event publicity, alongside computer skills, including a working knowledge of databases, record management systems, spreadsheets, and word processing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the capacity to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and the ability to work both unsupervised and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and a supportive environment to students through active interventions, prioritise risks, and communicate issues relating to student life and wellbeing.
  • Enhance student wellbeing, help students develop pro-social behaviour and emotional skills through targeted programs and strategies that build resilience, coping skills, and positive relationships.
  • Identify and facilitate the needs of students and their families and provide referrals to internal and external services/providers.
  • Support individual department student wellbeing goals and collectively build positive community relationships.
  • Run wellbeing initiatives and programs, as well as rendering data collection and evaluation of wellbeing programs and strategies in the College.
  • Manage and respond to emergency issues and student crises that may arise and be prepared to take on roles related to mobilizing the team, coordinating communication, providing psychological support, and individual/group supportive counselling, handling media, and managing aftermath interventions, debriefs, and so forth.
  • Assist and support College initiatives and events including attending events and updating social media sites regularly and take on additional scopes within OSL as directed by the Vice Dean (Student Life).
