EASTPORT MARITIME PTE LTD is seeking a Shipbroker to act as an intermediary between charterers and ship owners. The role focuses on arranging the best cargo rate deals while ensuring regulatory compliance, assessing new opportunities, and maintaining strong client relationships to uphold service standards.

The Trainee Shipbrokers will receive on-the-job coaching and exposure to post-fixture activities, with opportunities to develop workflow improvements and guidance for day-to-day operations.

The Shipbroker acts as an intermediary between charterers and ship owners. They are responsible for arranging the best possible deal for cargo rates, while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Shipbrokers assess the viability of new business opportunities and maintain a strong working relationship with existing clients and customers to ensure service standards are adhered to. They work with the in-house post-fixture to solve day-to-day issues and oversee the implementation of workflow improvements, guides and provide on-the-job coaching to the Trainee Shipbrokers.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, or a related discipline.
• 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in chemical and/or vegetable oil tanker chartering preferred.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
• Good interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, shipowners, charterers, and colleagues.
• Team player with a collaborative mindset and willingness to support colleagues to achieve shared goals.
• Customer-focused with the ability to understand customer needs and continuously improve service delivery.
• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and long-term partnerships.
• Good commercial acumen with an interest in market trends and business development opportunities.
• Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and respond promptly to changing market conditions.
