Job summary

Capgemini is seeking a Platform Operations Engineer to support on-premises and hybrid infrastructure that underpins mission-critical systems, with a focus on platform reliability and governance in a government or regulated environment.

You will collaborate with L1 vendor engineers, oversee incidents, drive technical analysis, and coordinate changes to ensure security and operational alignment throughout multi-year refresh programmes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in infrastructure or platform operations.
• Experience supporting production or mission-critical environments.
• Strong understanding of virtualization, storage, backup, networking and related platforms.
• Familiar with vendor-supported operating models and external support teams.
• Experience in government or public sector settings is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operational support and maintenance of critical infrastructure across on-premises and hybrid environments.
• Provide technical oversight across compute, storage, virtualization, OS, backup, DR, HA and related platforms.
• Lead incident management with deep dives, root cause analysis and recovery planning.
• Coordinate vendor activities to ensure tasks and SRs are completed on time.
• Review technical changes and recovery plans to ensure alignment with requirements.
• Support governance activities including change review, risk awareness and compliance checks.
• Assist modernization and multi-year technology refresh while maintaining uptime.
• Plan and track infra activities across teams and vendors for upgrades and migrations.
• Collaborate with application, network, security and vendor teams; maintain runbooks and governance artifacts.
