Job summary

Micron Technology, Inc. is seeking an experienced firmware security engineer to support SSD security features and respond to customer escalations.

You will engage with customer engineering teams, reproduce issues in the lab, and drive root-cause analysis to timely resolution. The role requires strong embedded security knowledge, proficiency in C/C++, Rust, and Python, and familiarity with PCIe/NVMe interfaces, cryptography, and secure firmware update processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Master's degree in computer or electrical engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in a customer facing engineering role is strongly preferred.
• Embedded Security domain knowledge including cryptography fundamentals, secure boot, and secure firmware update.
• Familiarity with storage security standards and features such as Opal, Enterprise SSC, NVMe security and sanitize commands.
• Proficiency in C, C++, and Rust; Python for test automation.
• Understanding of storage interfaces (PCIe/NVMe, SATA, SAS).
• Experience debugging firmware with debuggers, traces, and logs; firmware release processes.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary technical escalation point for Security Firmware on SSD products; triage, prioritize, and drive issues to closure.
• Guide customers through configuration, integration, and validation of SSD security features (Opal/Pyrite/Ruby, Enterprise SSC, secure boot, signed firmware update).
• Reproduce customer and field failures in the lab; analyze firmware logs and traces; deliver root-cause and corrective action.
• Develop, test, and validate targeted Security Firmware changes meeting security, functional, performance, and reliability requirements.
• Assess vulnerabilities and support mitigation planning, remediation delivery, and customer disclosure.
• Support security audits and certification activities (TCG, FIPS 140-3, Common Criteria).
