Job description

About Us

Maya Strategic ManagementPte.Ltd. is a management services company that partners with leading packaged foods manufacturers and importers to drive strategy, growth, and operational excellence. As a core service provider, we combine deep industryexpertisewith supply chain management, strategic marketing, and operational capabilities to solve complex business challenges. We work across portfolio companies, bringing commercial insight and best-in-class practices to everything we do — andwe'relooking for talented people who want to grow with us.

A word on how we hire: we care as much about how you think as what you already know. Our interviews are built to understand how you approach a problem. The people who do well here bring a can-do attitude, put the firm ahead of themselves, havegreat attention todetails, and treat direct feedback as something useful rather than something to defend against.

The Role

You'llown the finance function for our U.S. food import affiliates. You'llrun the full function, lead the team doing it, and sit close enough to the decisions to understand whythey'remade.

Work You'll Do
Team & Operations

Keep the finance function running end to end, so the business always has clean, current numbers to work from.

  • Lead the finance team and own the full cycle — accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, payrolland month-end close

  • Own the daily transactional work, including customer invoicing and credit, account reconciliations, and inventory accounting

Reporting & Controls

Give management a reliable, real-time read on how the business isactually performingagainst plan.

  • Build the budget and forecasts, set the policies and controls that manage risk, and recommend the benchmarks and system improvements worth making

  • Prepare and present monthly and annual financial statements, andmonitorspending against budget — flagging variances early rather than at close

  • Support external audits, taxfilingsand compliance requests

Analysis & Business Partnering

Make sure pricing, contracts and account decisions are backed by real numbers, not guesswork.

  • Partner with sales on account-level profitability and pricing, and build variance analysis that goes beyond the company-wide view

  • Analyse margin and profitability by customer and account, and build account-level P&L reviews

  • Pull whatever data management needs for a sharper answer

Your Role as a Leader
  • Hire and develop people who can do the work properly, not just clear it. Someone on your team should be able to run the close ifyou'reonleave, andknow why a number matters rather than only where it goes.

  • Push for the changes worth making. Anyone can flagwhat'sbroken. We'reafter the person who comes back with what to do about it, what it costs, and what it fixes.

  • Decide whatactually mattersthis month and tell your team. If everything is urgent, nothing is.

  • Own the result. Problems are cheaper the earlier you find them, so go looking rather than waiting for them to surface at close.

  • Talk straight with management, salesand the auditors. Plain English, no jargon where itisn'tneeded.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, with a solid grasp of accounting principles. ACCA or CPA certification preferred.

  • Three to five years of relevant controller or finance management experience. Supply chain industry experience is a plus.

  • Advanced QuickBooks skills, plus strong Excel (advanced formulas, VLOOKUP, pivot tables), Adobe Acrobat and Google Drive.

  • ERP system experience, including system conversions, is a strong plus. Comfortable picking up new software quickly.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, and equally comfortable working independently or as part of a team.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the organisational skills to run multiple deadlines at once without being chased.

  • A growth mindset — we want someone who treats a new system, an unfamiliar problem, or being toldthey'rewrong as something to learn from, not something to defend against.

  • Able to work hours that overlap with the U.S. West Coast — either an early-morning Singapore start (roughly 5am–9am SGT) or a late-evening one. We'llagree on a window with you, and the rest of your day flexes around it.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity in our workplace. The purpose of any language skills required is to facilitate communication with counterparts who do not speak English. All qualified applicants will be considered for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, origins, genetics, or disability status. To comply with various legal requirements in Singapore, we employ professionals through multiple entities depending on the immigration status of individual candidate and the workforce as a whole.
