Job summary

BLOKEES is seeking an experienced finance professional to oversee AR, tax compliance, and general accounting in a hybrid Singapore-based role. You will manage month-end close, prepare financial statements, and coordinate with auditors to ensure strict statutory adherence.

The role also covers budgeting, performance analytics, and ERP system enhancements to support growth. A 3-year track record in retail/consumer sectors and bilingual English/Mandarin are valued.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Oversee full-cycle accounts receivable, including credit control, collections and reconciliations.
• Manage month-end and year-end closing under US GAAP and policies.
• Prepare reviewed financial statements and GL reconciliations.
• Lead Singapore tax compliance including GST and corporate tax filings.
• Coordinate with auditors and regulators to ensure compliance.
• Drive budgeting, forecasting, and ROI analyses for expansions.
• Manage FX risk and enhance internal controls; support system improvements.

Job description

• Oversee full-cycle accounts receivable, including credit control, collections, and customer reconciliations to optimize cash flow and minimize bad debt.
• Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate booking of all transactions under US GAAP and corporate accounting policies.
• Prepare and review financial statements, general ledger reconciliations, and supporting schedules.

Tax Compliance & Statutory Reporting

• Lead Singapore tax compliance, including GST, corporate income tax, withholding tax, and other statutory filings.
• Coordinate with external tax agents, auditors, and regulatory bodies to ensure full compliance with local and US reporting requirements.
• Monitor tax developments and advise management on planning opportunities and risk mitigation.

Business Partnership & Performance Analytics

• Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and retail performance monitoring (GMROI, inventory turnover, store P&L).
• Provide financial modeling and ROI analysis for new store rollouts and expansion projects.
• Analyze US market competitor dynamics and supply chain cost drivers to deliver actionable insights for pricing optimization.

Risk, Controls & Process Improvement

• Ensure robust internal controls and SOX compliance; coordinate external and internal audits.
• Manage foreign exchange risk and develop hedging strategies.
• Establish and improve financial policies, procedures, and accounting systems—experience building finance functions from the ground up is highly valued.
• Drive process automation and system enhancements (ERP, reporting tools) to support business growth.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of progressive financial management experience, preferably in retail, FMCG, or consumer goods sectors.
• Hands-on expertise in AR management, tax compliance, and general accounting; familiar with Singapore tax regulations and US GAAP.
• Working knowledge of ERP systems (Netsuite or SAP preferred).
• Strong Excel skills and experience with financial reporting tools.
• Bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese (required for effective collaboration with cross-border teams and stakeholders).
• Singapore Permanent Resident or Citizen (MUST).
• Comfortable with a hybrid work model and convenient office commute.

Preferred

• Active CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification.
• Advanced analytics capabilities (Power BI, SQL, or similar).
• Proven experience supporting a finance function from 0 to 1—e.g., setting up accounting processes, implementing controls, or transitioning to new systems.
• Solution-oriented mindset with a track record of driving process improvements.
