A leading food ingredients supplier in Singapore is seeking an experienced Sales Executive to develop and implement sales strategies, manage ship chandlers, and maintain relationships with export partners. Ideal candidates should have at least 3 years in sales, with knowledge of bakery products preferred. Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills are essential. This role involves travel to export markets as needed.
Develop and implement sales strategies to penetrate new accounts and strengthen existing relationships.
Manage the sales growth in ship chandlers and assigned export markets.
Act as the primary point of contact for major ship chandlers and export partners.
Negotiate contracts, pricing, and trading terms to achieve optimal profitability.
Identify growth opportunities, analyze competitor activities, and recommend tactical actions.
Deliver strong customer service and maintain long-term business partnerships.
Monitor trade flows, shipping trends, and market intelligence to stay ahead of competition.
Provide product information, quotations, and after-sales service for assigned accounts.
Coordinate and support with operation teams to ensure smooth order fulfilment.
Provide regular feedback on product performance, pricing, and potential new product introductions.
Track sales performance against KPIs and report to Head of Export in weekly team meeting.
Contribute to sales forecasts and budgeting.
Maintain accurate records of accounts, sales activities, and pipeline opportunities.
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in sales, account management, or a related role, preferably within the FMCG, food ingredients, or export sector. Knowledge of bakery ingredients and food products is preferred.
Specific experience working with ship chandlers or in the marine supply sector is a significant advantage. Familiarity with the specific needs and supply chain challenges of provisioning vessels at port.
Solid understanding of international trade documentation and procedures.
Working knowledge of Incoterms (e.g., FOB, CIF), ocean freight processes, and the role of freight forwarders.
Familiarity with standard export payment terms such as Letter of Credit (L/C) and Telegraphic Transfer (T/T).
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experience with a CRM system (e.g., Salesforce).
Team worker, resourceful and collaborative, able to work effectively with internal operations, logistics, and customer service teams to ensure seamless order fulfilment for our clients.
Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to build trust and maintain long-term partnerships with clients and internal stakeholders.
Highly organized with strong time-management abilities to juggle multiple accounts, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Open to exploring innovative ways to serve the international business and overcome logistical challenges.
Willing to travel to assigned export markets for business meetings when necessary.
