Job summary

We’re looking to add a Senior / Engineer, R&D (Firmware) in Singapore. The position is based in our HQ at Ang Mo Kio.

As a Senior / Engineer, R&D (Firmware) you will:

Be responsible for design, development, integration, testing and debugging of embedded firmware of state-of-the-art products for life science markets; specializing in precision motion controllers.

• Design, develop, test and maintain embedded firmware assets.
• Develop and integrate device drivers, board-support packages, bootloaders, communication stacks and RTOS-based application modules.
• Implement real-time functions such as servo-control interfaces, multi-axis coordination, motion sequencing, trajectory generation, safety interlocks, fault recovery etc
• Integrate motion-related devices and sensors, including encoders, motor drivers, current and position sensors and/or industrial I/O.
• Optimise firmware for deterministic timing, low latency, accuracy, reliability and memory usage.
• Perform board bring-up, hardware/firmware integration, debugging, root-cause analysis and verification using oscilloscopes, logic analysers, protocol analysers etc related tools.
• Define module interfaces and design robust firmware components for integration into complex electromechanical systems.
• Generate and maintain firmware requirements, architecture, design specifications, test plans, test reports, release notes and traceability records in accordance with the product-development lifecycle.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, technical discussions, risk assessments and continuous improvement activities.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, system and manufacturing teams during engineering verification, design validation and NPI builds.
• Develop automated test tools/simulations to improve product quality and engineering productivity.
• Support customer integration, field issue investigation and product sustaining activities where applicable.
• Lead firmware work packages or small projects, including planning, technical coordination, progress reporting and mentoring junior engineers.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Company

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical, Computer, Mechatronics or related discipline.
• At least 6 years of relevant experience in embedded firmware or embedded software product development.
• Strong proficiency in embedded C and C++; working knowledge of Python or another scripting language for testing and automation.
• Practical experience with microcontrollers, interrupts, timers, DMA, memory-mapped peripherals and real-time embedded systems.
• Experience with RTOS concepts, multi-threading, concurrency, scheduling and deterministic system design.
• Experience with common embedded interfaces/protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, CAN/CANopen, USB etc.
• Experience in motor control, servo systems, robotics, industrial automation, precision equipment or related motion-control applications is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with software-development lifecycle practices, Git or equivalent version control, defect tracking, unit testing and coding standards.
• Fresh graduates with relevant experience are encouraged to apply
