Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager and EE Engineer in development and testing of life science instrumentation.
• Design, breadboard prototyping, and testing of life science instruments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners/suppliers on R&D projects.
• Assist in schematic capture, component selection, PCB layout, analog front-ends, power distribution, and microcontroller architectures.
• Bring up prototype boards, perform signal integrity checks, troubleshoot hardware issues.

We're looking to add a Trainee Electrical Design Engineer (R&D) in Singapore. The position is based in our HQ at Ang Mo Kio.

Responsibilities

• Play a key role in supporting the Project Manager and EE Engineer with the development and execution of EE Engineering design, troubleshooting and testing of life science instrumentation. Design, breadboard prototyping, and testing of life science instruments.
• Gain hands‑on experience by contributing to development, troubleshooting and testing of our products and services. Actively take concepts from CAD models to functional physical prototypes, ensuring high precision, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and external partners/suppliers, providing valuable exposure to real‑world R&D projects.
• Assist in schematic capture, component selection, and PCB layout, analog front‑ends, power distribution modules, and microcontroller‑based architectures.
• Bring up prototype boards, perform signal integrity checks, and troubleshoot hardware issues using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and digital multimeters.
• Characterise and integrate sensors (e.g., optical, thermal, pressure) and precision motion control components (e.g., stepper/servo motors) crucial for automated liquid handling.

Requirements

• M.Sc./M.Eng. in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Basic experience with electric circuit measurement.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Meticulous, organized, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
• Eager to learn, self‑motivated, a strong team player with good communication skills and a proactive attitude.
