Job summary

Sembcorp Specialised Construction, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries, invites applications for Senior Engineer – M&E to lead mechanical and electrical works on construction projects in the built environment.

You will oversee on-site M&E activities, review submissions, coordinate with multiple stakeholders, and ensure safety, quality and timely handovers. Strong leadership and communication are essential for effective teamwork across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is required or equivalent.
• 5–8 years of relevant M&E engineering experience in the built environment.
• Experience in coordinating with consultants, contractors and internal teams is essential.

Responsibilities

• Oversee on-site M&E works, ensuring compliance with drawings, specs and schedules.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors and internal teams to resolve technical issues.
• Review/approve M&E design submissions, shop drawings and method statements.
• Monitor progress and inspections to ensure quality and safety standards.
• Support testing, commissioning and handover of M&E systems.
• Plan and manage deployment of materials, tools and equipment for M&E works.
• Ensure workers adhere to safety protocols and PPE requirements.
• Maintain site documentation including reports and records.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff.

Purpose and Scope

The Senior Engineer – M&E is responsible for managing and coordinating mechanical and electrical engineering works across construction projects in the built environment. This role ensures that all M&E systems are designed, installed, and commissioned in accordance with project specifications, regulatory requirements, and quality standards. The Senior Engineer also supports project planning, technical resolution, and stakeholder coordination.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

• Oversee the execution of M&E works on-site, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and schedules.


• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and internal teams to resolve technical issues and ensure smooth project delivery.


• Review and approve M&E design submissions, shop drawings, and method statements.


• Monitor site progress and conduct inspections to ensure quality and safety standards are met.


• Support testing, commissioning, and handover of M&E systems.


• Plan and manage the deployment of materials, tools, and equipment for M&E works.


• Ensure all workers under supervision adhere to safety protocols and are equipped with appropriate PPE.


• Maintain accurate documentation including site reports, inspection records, and progress updates.


• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and site staff.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.


• Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience in M&E engineering within the built environment sector.


• Strong knowledge of M&E systems, construction processes, and local regulatory requirements.


• Experience in piping works with Oil & Gas would be an advantage.


• Experience in managing subcontractors and resolving site-related technical issues.


• Strong technical and analytical skills.


• Effective communication and coordination skills.


• Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities.


• Strong leadership and team collaboration skills.
