Job summary

M8M Pte Ltd is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the development of automation systems. You will oversee concept to deployment, selecting components from multiple manufacturers and driving standardisation for future scalability.

You will collaborate with electrical, controls, and software teams to ensure robust interfaces, while applying DFM/DFA principles to optimise cost and manufacturability.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related.
• At least 3 years of relevant mechanical design experience in industrial automation or related machinery.
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks with complex assemblies and BOM preparation.
• Solid understanding of GD&T, load calculations, material selection, fits and tolerances.
• Experience coordinating with customers, suppliers and cross-functional teams.
• Hands-on assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of automation equipment.
• Experience managing BOMs, drawing revisions and engineering changes.
• Self-driven, meticulous and able to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Develop system layouts, mechanical assemblies, tooling, fixtures, and automation mechanisms.
• Select, size, and integrate components from manufacturers, including robotic arms, actuators, motors, and transmissions.
• Drive modular design and standardisation for reusable assemblies and interfaces.
• Perform sizing, tolerancing, and simulations to meet performance requirements.
• Prepare and release mechanical drawings, BOMs and engineering documentation with ECO control.
• Lead design reviews, proofs-of-concept, testing and validation activities.
• Collaborate with electrical, controls and software engineers to define interfaces.
• Coordinate with suppliers and fabrication teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
• Lead mechanical troubleshooting during assembly, integration and commissioning.
• Mentor junior engineers and communicate risks, resources, and timelines.
