Job summary

Singapore Bank is seeking an experienced API & Middleware Engineer to design, build, and maintain enterprise APIs and microservices across on-premises and AWS. You will lead a team, translate business needs into scalable solutions, and partner with architects and product owners to deliver secure, resilient services.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in software engineering, strong Java/Spring Boot expertise, and deep payments domain knowledge.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering.
8+ years of hands-on software engineering with enterprise-scale apps.
5+ years in payments domain, API/microservices experience.

Responsibilities

Lead the design, development, and maintenance of APIs and microservices.
Provide technical leadership to a team of engineers.
Translate business requirements into scalable, secure API solutions.
Drive architecture, implementation, and governance of RESTful APIs, microservices, and system integrations.
Lead development of payment services end-to-end: initiation, processing, settlement, reconciliation, reporting.
Design highly available, fault-tolerant, and performance-optimised services.
Ensure API governance, security, and lifecycle management (OAuth2, JWT, mTLS, versioning).
Oversee integrations using API, middleware, messaging, Kafka and IBM MQ.
Champion reliability via monitoring, observability, logging, and disaster recovery.
Conduct code reviews and technical assessments to maintain high standards.
Prepare architecture diagrams, API specs, runbooks, and support procedures.
Identify improvements to scalability, resilience, security, and developer productivity.
